The hand

Painting, for me, is first of all feeling. The hand becomes an extension of the heart — it touches colour, brings it to life, lets it breathe. In every gesture there is a share of instinct, of fragility, of truth. Nothing is entirely planned: the paint settles, transforms, tells what words cannot say. In my canvases the hand keeps its trace, visible or invisible. It ties nature to emotion, movement to silence. I like it to leave an imperfect, human, living imprint. It is in that imperfection that authenticity hides — the one I look for, every time, between matter and light. Patricia Forget.
